What is Ad Turres?

The toponym Ad Turres was marked by the ancient cartographers at a position between Tarsatica (Rijeka) and Senia (Senj), and it means a place (an area) enclosed by towers – watchtowers.

According to the archaeological discoveries so far, the watchtowers at Badanj, Godača and at Kaštel are part of the area which is associated with Ad Turres. The role of these towers was supervision of the Roman road communication between Tarsatica and Senia.
