Who was Sextus Metillius Maximus?

Through the stamps on ceramics from Crikvenica we discover that Sextus Metillius Maximus had been the owner of the pottery workshop of Ad Turres. And not only that. Based on the stamp formula DE SALTU, we find out that he had also leased all the natural resources, forests and raw material necessary for the operation of the ceramics workshop.

His name on the stamp guaranteed the quality of the products during the almost 150 years of production in this pottery workshop.
