The Roman pottery workshop

In the last decades of the 1st century B.C., the area of the northern Croatian littoral, particularly the Kvarner area, experienced a powerful wave of urbanisation thanks not only to the peaceful acceptance of the Roman domination but also to the settling of new inhabitants.

The increased need for everyday ceramic goods required the establishment and organisation of pottery workshops.
